We are excited to announce Ryan Root as the Modified Head Coach for Westhill Boys Lacrosse!
Coach Root has been immersed in the game of lacrosse for nearly four decades, picking up a stick at the age of five and still playing today. A Liverpool High School graduate, he went on to play at Le Moyne College, where he was part of the program during its national championship runs from 1998-2002.
Bringing 16 years of coaching experience, Coach Root has worked at every level from modified to varsity within the CNS lacrosse program. Additionally, he plays a vital role in the Westhill lacrosse community as both a coach and President of Blue Wave Lacrosse, where he has helped develop countless young athletes.
Off the field, Coach Root is a dedicated educator, having taught 6th grade math in the North Syracuse Central School District for 22 years. His passion for teaching extends beyond the classroom, as he strives to inspire and positively impact both his students and players.
A Westvale resident, he lives with his wife, Laura, a kindergarten teacher, and their four children—Addison (14), Seamus (12), Emerson (9), and Finley (9)—all of whom play lacrosse. With a busy spring season ahead, family remains Coach Root’s top priority, but his love for the game ensures he always finds time to coach.
Please join us in welcoming Coach Root to his new role! We look forward to an exciting season under his leadership.
